These drawings were done around 2003 - 2006 at Spring Studio
in New York City. They are mostly quick poses, ranging from
2 to 40 minutes, although the bulk of them are 5 and 10 minute
poses. They are done with charcoal, except for a few done with oil crayons.
I draw for the sheer joy of it, sometimes I even produce something "good". A lot of times
I'll use the drawings as a reference for sculpture.
Spring Studio is a fantastic place to draw, seven days a week, three sessions a day
. Minerva Durham runs it and teachs drawing, anatomy, life etc. A great, easy-going group of serious artists
from beginners to masters.
